The Union City series was created in conversation with Clare Short, Secretary of State for International Development (1997-2003) and Francis O'Grady, the first woman to serve as General Secretary of the Trades Union Congress (TUC).
The artwork 'Immoral Flaws' (pictured above) suggests a society can be immoral, not because of something it does, but because of something it doesn't do - like failing to secure the welfare of all its citizens.
The artist implies that anyone who deliberately ignores or overlooks injustice becomes ethically implicated in that injustice.
'Immoral Flaws' is part of socialart.work, a mass public art project calling for greater social justice.
It aims to create debate about power and gender, women's equality and masculinity, alternative forms of economic and social organisation, black power, and solidarity between people from different backgrounds and ethnicities.
It includes posters, publications and events supported in 2018-19 by the artist's residency with leading Out of Home media company
Clear Channel UK.
